Not Just Pilates
Pilates at Lilyfield Physiotherapy integrates Pilates regimes and physiotherapy using up to date research to ensure you target the right muscle patterns with minimal effort. Overactive superficial muscle systems often present a barrier which prevents the deep abdominal, pelvic and spinal muscles from performing correctly and teaching these muscles to let go if often the important challenge.
Our aim with our “Pilates” exercise programme is to train your body’s posture control strategy to make your body continue training even when it’s not exercising. A good posture control strategy is the key to safe, efficient and rewarding exercising for both strength and endurance.
Our “Pilates” exercise sessions are always directed and supervised by one of our experienced physiotherapists. The programmes are designed to strengthen your spine and your abdominal “corset” and condition the rest of your body through a combination of floor, ball and machine exercises and pilates apparatus exercises.
Sessions can be:
- Individual– always recommended initially.
- Small group – maximum of four to a group with one physiotherapist supervising and progressing individual programmes.
- Larger small group – maximum of eight to a group (see classes page)
